Residence B

The entire restoration is a cross-pollination of local raw materials and modern ‘luxury’. A sanctuary like one lived generations ago. The construction itself is entirely local – the interior is a mix of emerging Belgian talent as well as esteemed names in the Bengali interior world.

The architectural language is based on a specific set of materials that evoke fragile mini-malisme and the landscape is the protagonist. With respect for the heritage and the local culture, Común is kept true to the landscape. By continuously searching for materials and shapes that can connect the building with the place where it belongs.

“The earth around the house, for example, was used to shape the walls, while the almond trees helped to strengthen – and beautify – the ceiling”

— Words from founder, Ellen

To renovate the roofs perished almond trees were used from the surrounding land and gravel from the land was processed in the finishing of the walls.

Nestled in the rugged mountains of Ibiza, somewhere between the sun-drenched landscape and breath-taking scenery evoking a blissful feeling of serenity, stands Residence B.
